After Christmas I will have absolutely no counter space left in my kitchen. I am addicted to kitchen appliances even though I rarely use them — I hate taking them apart to clean! But I do like them sitting pretty on the counter, especially since they all happen to be stainless steel and pretty. So that’s how I got suckered into buying 2 more, and begging my secret santa for a third.
So the BF and I have finalized plans for our landscaping and we had to ditch the raised garden bed idea in a favor of a fire pit. It was actually a relief for me — I am horrible with plants and I don’t know how I would even produce anything edible. So, the next best thing is a foolproof AeroGrow AeroGarden with Gourmet Herb Seed Kit
. This one was courtesy of Citi’s Thank You Rewards (who knew credit card points had such cool rewards now?) and I can’t wait to start growing my own thyme and basil. I hate spending $1.99 on a whole box at the market when I only need one sprig! I was so excited about this I bought a smaller one on Amazon for my sisters for Christmas. (Shhh, don’t tell)
Waffles are the one thing that you can’t just “wing” if you don’t have the proper equipment. I received some Bouchon waffle mix as a gift earlier in the year but was unable to enjoy them, so I put “waffle maker” on my secret santa wishlist. My secret santa wasn’t very secretive: she outright asked me for permission to get me a Calphalon HE400WM No Peek Belgian Waffle Maker
since it was a different brand than the one I had on my list. I said yes and the box is now sitting in my garage waiting for her to come and wrap it. It’s taking every ounce of my willpower not to open it, make some waffles, and repackage it without her knowing.
The last was an impulse buy on Gilt.com. (Gilt is seriously bad for my wallet) I was raised Indonesian so that means one thing: all of our food is deep fried. Fried chicken, meatballs, fish, you name it. Now I can do it at home with less mess and in less time.
What attracted me to this deep fryer immediately was the design. Most deep fryers are massive and square and this one is less intimidating. Plus is has a glass bowl so you can actually see what you’re frying. On sale for $88 from $175 at gilt.com.

Can’t wait to hear about how the AeroGarden works. I can’t keep any type of plant alive for anything. Love the fryer!
