Ever since I moved down to Orange County, I’ve been scoping the area for my next favorite brunch place… and I think I’ve found it! Tucked away in the corner of The Camp in Costa Mesa there is a little wine bar called Old Vine Cafe. I’ve been here about 2 or 3 times and every time I am blown away by the creativity of my meal.

My favorite so far is the BBQ omelet… slow soasted, BBQ style all-natural pulled pork & smoked gouda cheeses. It tasted as juicy and tender as looks in the picture. It was a very heavy meal — my BF ordered the blueberry french toast and the waiter assumed the BBQ omelet was for him and switched our orders.
But my favorite part of brunch at The Camp is shopping. After a heavy dish like that, I like to wander as I walk off my meal. The Camp has a lot of charming boutique stores (it is the anti-mall, after all) that have unique trinkets. The last time I was there I picked up some randL canvas notebooks at Seed People’s Market — a great place for vintage, recycled and handmade trinkets.
They come complete with a moleskine journal and a pencil and come in diferent sizes. I always carry a tiny moleskine around with me in my purse to jot down ideas and thoughts I have throughout the day and keep a full-sized one at my desk. These fabric covers add a little bit of flair and are the perfect gift for any writer or deep thinker.

I just wrote an article on my blog about how I moved on from pocket note-books to stickies to cellphone software to online software to index cards! Like the designs of the notebooks here. Love the place where brunch-ed!
I’d love to carry my work there! There are plenty of places in ATX too where I love working and I guess I’m going to blog about them, slooooooowwwly! Turle-pace.

I’ve been wanting to try Old Vine Cafe forever! I like how the menu seems to put different things together like the omelet. Can’t wait to try. Your pic looks so good.

you should really try break of dawn!
it’s down in laguna hills and everyone i’ve taken there has absolutely loved it. it’s a bit fusion – vietnamese influences.
make sure they’re not closed if you go, i’ve driven down on mondays before… they’re only open wednesday-sunday 8am-2:30pm.
