Out of Space!

After my recent shoe binge at DSW, I am completely out of room in my shoe closet. I bought two sets of The Container Store’s shoeboxes and only had about 3 empty boxes left so I had to get creative and double up on some of my flats.

I don’t think I’ve shared this setup on my blog yet (my memory is horrible) but here it is. I’m using my old linen closet from my apartment and have stacked them full with plastic shoe boxes. Before this, I kept all of my shoes in their original shoe boxes. This worked great until I stocked up on multiple shoes per brand and soon I was digging through 4-5 boxes to find the right shoe. I was originally going to get a Polaroid camera and take a picture of each pair to put on the side of the box but realized with the price of Polaroid film, that would cost me more than the boxes themselves. So for now, I use the dust bag as a way to “label” the brand and the clear top makes it super easy to identify the right shoe! Now if only there was an easy way to organize my bags…

$25.80 for a set of 20, The Container Store.

I should do this, too but the prob is where to put the boxes. I got no space. None at all :(

Hey, I know what you mean about the appeal for a polaroid for recording your clothing/ shoe collection and it sucks that they’ve stopped making film and the cameras, but there is an iphone application that does fake polaroids on it.
The website for it is http://shakeitphoto.com/

I put my whole shelf in the garage. =) Much prettier than a pile of shoes.

    Hi CT!

I am green with envy over your shoe collection :P
Just a suggestion: Why not search up or take photos of your shoes; resize them on Photoshop (for uniformity); add polaroid borders; and print.
Don’t know how pretty that would be, though.

Did you get the regular size boxes or the big ones? On the Container Store site it recommends the big ones (I think they’re the men’s size, actually) for athletic shoes and high heels/platforms. Thanks for posting this, it has inspired me to finally do something about my shoe collection, which is small but annoyingly disorganized!

Instead of polaroids, why not find pictures online and print them out?
