I was pleasantly surprised by Gilt today. Their inventory has been running a little dry the past couple of weeks and I was getting equally frustrated with Ideeli who has revamped their site to accommodate more of a “mass sale” than a private sale. But today, Gilt sent out an invitation to a private sale — yup, even more private than their usual private sales. The link to the sale is available through e-mail only and the sale is not posted on their site. I’m curious to know who else received this “elite” e-mail… was it sent to previous purchasers or to everyone who is signed up?
Anyways, the sale was for Michelle Vale and the available inventory was surprisingly palatable. I’ve never seen Michelle Vale bags in person but seeing the selection on Gilt makes me curious for more.
I like the whimsical shapes of her bags and the ribbed and ruffled details. They come in all sorts of punchy colors trimmed in darker tints which make them casual enough to go with any outfit. Her structured shoulder pochettes are very cute as a winter/occasional accessory. Click here to view more styles on her Web site.

Nah, I don’t think it was for everyone. I didn’t get an email about it. Maybe I haven’t purchased enough or invited enough people to be special like you. ; )

same here- i’ve purchased and had invitees purchase- but no invite! that gray bag is enough for me to go hunting for my hidden credit card, excuse me while i drool…

I deleted the e-mail in a moment of frustration and didn’t even read the subject…I just found it in the Trash. All the ones I love are sold out!
I don’t know why I got the invite, I have only bought one dress from the site.

I didn’t get one either, but then again I’ve never purchased anything from Gilt Groupe…usually stick to Ruelala or Hautelook.

i’m all about the oversized clutches, but am not willing to pay the hefty price when i can get vintage ones for way less at the flea market!

I got it too, it’s because i remember signing up for it through daily candy. there’s a dailycandy/gilt group collaberation sample sale thingy, and you can’t sign up for it thru gilt. go to dailycandy and search for the link on their “everywhere” page – it’s there somewhere.

I didn’t get the invite. I’ve order a couple of things from Gilt, but I also noticed things have been dry there. I’m spending all my time on Hautelook.com. I like their sales and their webzine too.

Then again, I’ve been so addicted to gilt that it’s my favorite over Hautelook and ruelala.
The service at Hautelook is just gawd awful. They messed up on my last 3 orders for the past 2 months! I can go on and on about what’s wrong with Hautelook but I will spare you of my bitchin’.

I randomly came upon it when I refreshed my page (no e-mail, though)… I haven’t invited anyone, so I don’t think that’s the criteria for access (also, there’s a Perse private sale and Gryson new members)… needless to say, now I’m constantly refreshing!
