It’s been a little bit of a chore trying to duplicate my Westside life out here in the outskirts of Orange County. Last week though I found a little peace of heaven: Purple Yoga Studio. I picked up a Groupon ($29 for 1 month unlimited) and was delighted to see that they offered hot yoga — something I’ve only tried a handful of times at Bikram Yoga in Los Angeles.

Their facility was bright, new and well-equipped. I could do without the extra charge for mat + towel services but was too dazzled by the Orange County prices (half of LA!) to care. The most important thing was that the place was clean… if you’ve done hot yoga you know how badly a place can smell but this place wasn’t bad. I mean, no matter what you do, sweat smells, but here it smelled a little less. Oh, and another thing I love? Their last class is at 8:40 — perfect way to end the workday.
Yes, it’s a little hard to convince my stubborn self to do hot yoga in the heat of summer, but it’s so rewarding that I forget it feels like torture. Now if only they’d open a bar method and a pilates studio down here, I’d be set!
Is bar method the same thing as purebarr because they have multiple locations in orange county!
I should be more specific… I’m in the super boonie north part of OC. So… Irvine/Costa Mesa/Newport is a 40 min drive. :(
Pure Barr looks similar to Bar Method tho!
I love yoga. I actually found a studio in Boston that offers some great intro classes and a 14 day pass for $25! Reading your site today totally made me hop on the bandwagon.
Thats awesome! I got into hot yoga a few months ago through a Groupon deal too and have a love/hate relationship with it ever since. If nothing else it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something great in my 90 minutes there. If you figure out the complicated maze of expensive mat towels (Yogitoes, Manduka, etc) I’d love to see a post!
I live in north OC too but I signed up for Pure Barre for their monthly unlimited for new clients ($100) and drove the 35 minutes to work out in Irvine. It was well worth it! (But I’m on summer break now too.) I hope the Bar Method or Pure Barre or something similar will open up in this neck of the woods!
Love Rachel Bilson, but prefer the bag in gray!
