Paper Things

You know you’re all grown up when you spend more time on One Kings Lane than Gilt. Or shopping in Napa than in Union Square. Which, coincidentally, is where I first saw disposable place mats, at Napa Style in Yountville.

Such a smart idea: who wants to spend $$$ on fancy linen placemats that just get dirty and stained after one hectic family dinner! (And those things don’t look good after they’re washed, unless you are meticulous about your ironing.) So now I shall keep my fancy linens for show, and buy these disposables for use!

I picked up both of these sets on One Kings Lane ($15 each for 30). Yes, they are just paper, but that doesn’t decrease the cute factor one bit. I smell a dinner party coming up…

    Hi CT,

One huge flaw to disposable place mats is that they’re, for lack of a better word, disposable and completely wasteful of our natural resources…

I like to go for cheaper ones that I can use for very informal and casual get togethers.

M- True. Good thing I have sitdown dinners about once every 3 months so these will probably last me a good 2 years.

On a separate note, these are at least printed on FSC paper using soy-based inks. :)
