Everybody has one. At their school, at their work. Their boyfriend’s sister, the jealous cousin. There are girls out there that always seem to notice with a little bit too much of unwanted attention. Mine lives in a fishbowl office that I have to walk by every morning when I get into work.
“Oh, I love your top. Where did you get it?” She says, with borderline insincerity.
I didn’t think of it much until it happened almost every day for two weeks. Come on, no one is that interested in a plain blue Theory dress shirt.
Last Friday it was “Oh, nice sweater. Didn’t you wear that last Friday? It’s your Friday top!”
No it’s not. It just happens to find itself in easily accessible places on Friday mornings. Grrr.
Hilarious! Know exactly what you are talking about. :)
I’m not going to lie..I notice when people wear what but I never EVER mention it. In fact, I rarely say, “I like your shirt!” unless I REALLLLLLY like it or I’m drunk. Your co-worker is lame, but don’t worry too much about it. I have a feeling she does this to some of your other co-workers.
You are SO spot on with this. I think it’s some ppl’s way of making small talk…but WTF!?? Who calls out when you last wore something? Never okay…unless you’re a bitchy gay guy, then it’s funny (like Christain off Project Runway)! :)
you should just turn the tables on her and start asking her about her clothes. maybe she’ll get the hint.
or maybe she just misses your “wearing today” posts:)
I did have a friend who notices eveyrthing baout your eyebrows, a little hair on chin, so annoying!
Once she said “Oh, you really seem to like BCBG don’t you.” in the same tone you would say to a dirty kid, “Oh, you really seem to like mud don’t you.”
LOL…funny post– but true!
my mum never understands when i say “but i wore that just last week”, it is exactly b/c of this type of people. she always tells me i’m not celebrity, i can recycle clothes (ie. who cares what you are wearing to the clases) but there are jealous, mean spirited people who keep track of what one wears, just to say something not nice. just like kim from the 2nd comment, i have a pretty good memory and remember people’s clothes but i never mention it (leave it alone say something like “didn’t you wear it last friday?”) unless it is a compliment.
why are people so mean?
Seriously don’t people have better things to do….like worry about their own wardrobe?
Er…damn…this is me. I do it and don’t even realize it, most of the time. But the times I do? It’s usually because I don’t like the person. Oops.
I couldn’t live with myself if I were like that.
Or she could actually be sincere and just completely unaware of how her tone makes her come across as bitchy- I have a neighbor like this. Whatever- just smile and don’t take it to heart. If she wants to be mean, that’s her problem, not yours.
oy vay – i am a complimenter. but i always mean it in a sincere way and hope no one is annoyed if i seriously just love what they wear or how they do their hair, etc. yikes – i never thought ppl would be annoyed. i DO know what CT means by the “tone” though. I have an office mate like that – she only knows when I buy things on the bargain – “oh i was going to buy that at Marshall’s last night” – “i saw that at target too” wtf should i do with comments like that? i just stare at her like “uhhh – yeah – buh bye”
